Meet the industry experts who will be speaking at Paper Recycling Conference India!

Pawan Agarwal started his career as a business technocrat in 1995 when he opened Naini Papers Ltd., a state-of-the-art paper mill in Kashipur, Uttarakhand. Prior to this, he graduated in 1993 from the Institute of Engineering & Technology, Lucknow, with a Bachelor of Technology degree in electrical engineering. In 2007 Agarwal joined the Indian Institute of Foreign Trade to complete an executive post graduate diploma in international business, which he earned in 2009.

Agarwal has held a variety of positions in several organizations, including currently serving as chairman of the paper unit chapter of KGCCI, an association of paper mills in Uttarakhand, as well as vice president of the Indian Pulp and Paper Technical Association.

After graduating with a degree in science from Mumbai University, Lalit Garg started Ramji Board & Paper Mill in 1991. He began trading scrap kraft paper in 2000, adding collection, sorting and baling to the company’s operations in 2010. The company bales 150,000 tons in seven locations, with plans to expand.

Garg serves as honorary secretary of Gujarat Paper Mill Association. He is an elected member of Vapi Industries Association. He was the president of the Lions Club of Vapi for three consecutive years and also served as president of South Gujarat Federation Of Industries from 2007 to 2012.

Mr. James R. Keefe joined GIE Media, Recycling Today’s parent company, in 1991 in a sales and market research capacity.

During his career, he has overseen the continuing development of Recycling Today magazine, which is today the leading business magazine serving the recycling industry. In addition, he has managed the launch of its website,, as well as numerous publication launches.

Jim currently serves as an executive vice president for GIE Media and is a member of the firm’s executive management team. He is a graduate of Ohio University, Athens, Ohio.

Mr. Sohel F Kazani is the founder and managing director of the Bharat Freight Group, which is involved in customs clearance, freight forwarding and vessel chartering, express cargo movements across India, rail terminal management, port terminal management and heavy engineering activities for maintenance of port equipment.

Kazani also is a committee member of the Federation of Freight Forwarders’ Association of India (FFFAI), which is the apex body of the customs brokers of India, and has successfully completed the study of the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) for the ministry of commerce that links India, Iran and Russia.

Mr. Anil Kumar is the executive director and CEO of Shreyans Industries Ltd., a leading agro-based paper mill in north India. He has more than 40 years of industrial experience, spending the last 35 years in the paper industry.

Past president of the Indian Pulp and Paper Technical Association, Kumar is actively associated with various mediums connected to the paper industry, including a membership with the Development Council for Pulp, Paper and Allied Industries; and a council member of Central Pulp & Paper Research Institute. He also serves as senior vice president of Indian Agro & Recycled Paper Mills Association.

Vikas Mahajan is commercial head for Mahajan Recycle Resources, a family managed concern and part of Mahajan Group, which has been associated with the paper industry since 1964. The company is an active indenter for supply of scrap paper to mills in India and other Asian countries.

An MBA graduate, Mahajan joined the family business in 2000 and learned that the scrap paper business is more of an understanding toward origin, supply consistency, fiber quality and commercial suitability, rather than selling grades collected by name.

Mahajan has travelled to visit balers and suppliers to understand their operations and supply quality.

Mr. Bill Moore is president of Moore & Associates, an international consulting firm engaged in providing a range of market research and strategic services to the global paper recycling industry. Prior to his many years as a consultant, he held a series of positions in the solid waste, paper and recycling industries. At Moore & Associates, he has served more than 250 clients on more than 450 projects. Mr. Moore’s knowledge base includes all aspects of the worldwide supply and demand of recovered paper.

Markus Ocklind has worked in the recycling business for 28 years and for the past 2 years as a Director at Ekman and head of the European Recycling Materials Division. He has been active and member of the following organizations the pas 10 – 15 years; BIR, ERPA and Europarec. The Recycling division at Ekman handles about 1, 2 million tons/ year of recovered fiber. In total Ekman sell about 4, 5 million tons of forest products on a yearly basis.

Mr. Bharat Pujara, a second-generation businessman, joined the family-owned business Global Waste Recyclers Ltd. in 1976. He was instrumental in the company embarking on importing and indenting activities. Pujara helped to initiate an overseas collaboration by entering a joint venture, Bruman International Ltd., in Australia in 1994, the first such investment from India in this industry. He also pioneered the export activities of the company by marketing on behalf of JK Paper Ltd. Pujara is an acknowledged subject matter expert for his knowledge of the scrap paper and paper business in India and abroad, and is well-known in the paper industry.

Mr. Anil Radhakrishnan is the chief executive officer of Adani Logistics Ltd. where he is responsible for the business and infrastructure growth of the logistics business of Adani Group.

He has more than 24 years of experience in logistics, shipping, supply chain and consumer industries, and has held various senior executive positions.

Prior to joining Adani Group, Radhakrishnan served as the managing director of APL India.

He earned a science education and holds a master’s degree in management from MG University. He also has completed programs at Stanford University, Michigan State University and the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad.

With a master’s degree in management education, P. R. Ray has held senior positions in the paper industry in India for 22 years, giving him deep insight into technical and commercial paper industry operations. Equipped with this knowledge, Ray left a senior position at one of India’s leading paper-producing organizations in 1992 to start his independent business career in the paper industry dealing with raw materials—virgin and recovered fiber. In 1994, Ray and a friend from the paper trade started Esskay Impex, which is now engaged in selling recovered fiber, pulp and finished paper.

Brian Taylor joined the Recycling Today Media Group in September 1997 and serves as an editor for the media group.
